They are in fact the names of the three brothers named in ancient Rome: Abay and Gaboras. All of them were buried there during the reign of Augustus in AD 40. By the time of his death many more Jews visited the tomb, but only those with valid claims to them, as the Abay brothers did in 1068, were able to enter it.
The Abay Brothers buried their last son and wife on September 27, 1359, at the old tomb in Southeastern Rome. In 1519, the Abay and Gaboras brothers were executed for their alleged complicity in the murder of the Christian clergymen at the Euboean tomb in Southeastern Rome by the Roman army. However, many of the Abay brothers' victims were Christians, and were given amnesty as they could no longer marry. In August, 1526, the Abay brothers received their annulment for "for the love that God's children have for us, for whom love was the only quality which had been given to us in the first place."
Two other Jews, Alexander and Alexander, who had converted to Christianity at the end of the reign of Alexander VI, were killed by the Roman army when they took the Euboean tomb. However, their corpses were not returned to
