Williams is now looking to take over and become a coach with a new team once he's on the field.
So far this season Williams is looking at just one-day visits to his hometown of Oak Park for the first time. He's hoping to visit a handful of teams and his latest visit, a 4-6 win over the Chicago Fire, is a good demonstration of his ability to make an early impression with the organization.
His plan is to visit a few different teams, make his teammates happier during his stay in Chicago and, while the Fire have been criticized for lacking cohesion and depth on defense throughout the 2017 season, Williams has always said the first day of the regular season, and every other day after the game, will be a game that could produce some of his success.
And the Fire are only just as successful this year. Through 12 games, the Fire have a winning percentage over 70 percent, including a pair of games against the Blackhawks and Red Wings. That's not only an improvement over the previous season, but is the fourth best record in the NHL.
